Core Work on the Feetup Trainer

Last Fall a company reached out to me about reviewing their yoga prop. I love using props in my practice and my teaching .. plus this was the FeetUp Trainer! I had seen this prop in use all over social media & I was dying to try it!

Well it was pretty much love at first play date! I made a complete tutorial on uses for the feetup - like inversions, backbends, active stretching drills - you can find it on my instagram feed.

We get twisty this week with Parivrtta Parsvakonasana or Revolved Side Angle Pose

🔻 Combining a standing pose with a deep twist is challenging!  Revolved Side Angle asks you to keep your back heel grounded (fixed!) while moving the upper body in the opposite direction.  The strength from the lower body created stability, while the length of the upper body allows space for the twist. 

🔻 Because this pose is so demanding - it requires a warm-up!  A wise prep would include Sun Salutations, Warrior 1 & 2, Triangle Pose, & standing or seated twists.

🔻 Kakasana???? Yep, not a typo!  The Sanskrit name for the bent arm CROW starts with a K. It’s straight-arm sister is Crane Pose or the more familiar #Bakasana.  Now you know!

🔻  Crow pose is often the 1st arm balance yoga students learn.  For good reason - it teaches foundational arm balance skills : core activation, hollow body, gaze, & leverage.
